History of ETOPIMA Brief History of ETOPIMETOPIM - International Association for the science of electrical, transport and optical properties of inhomogeneous media - is the premier international society for scientists researching all aspects of the science of Composite Materials. Eleven ETOPIM conferences have been organized since 1977, with a regular triennal basis since ETOPIM3. The list of past venues is as follows. ETOPIM11, Krakow, Poland, July 15-20, 2018 ETOPIM10, Neveh Ilan, Israel, June 21-26, 2015 ETOPIM9, Marseille, France, 2012 ETOPIM8, Crete, 2009 ETOPIM7, Sydney, Australia, 2006 ETOPIM6, Utah, USA, 2002 ETOPIM5, Hong Kong, China, 1999 ETOPIM4, St. Petersburg - Moscow, Russia, 1996 ETOPIM3, Guanajuato, Mexico, 1993 ETOPIM2, Paris, France, 1988 ETOPIM, Columbus, Ohio, USA, 1977 These conferences have provided a unique forum for experimentalists and theorists to get together and advance our understanding of the electrical transport and optical properties of inhomogeneous media. The Ying-Yang symbol has come to symbolize ETOPIM meetings. A variant of it, with a ribbon around it, first appeared during ETOPIM 2 in France. The traditional symbol was adopted by the organizers of ETOPIM 3 in Mexico, and was then used in subsequent meetings. Please have a look at the presentation summarizing the history of ETOPIM, prepared by Graeme Milton. |
